Page Header Bullying...No Way!

Welcome to your WebQuest

Introduction

Bullying is when someone, or a group of people, upset or create a risk to another person's health and safety - either psychologically or physically - or their property, reputation or social acceptance on more than one occasion.

Basically, bullying is bad!

At Young Hoon Elementary School we all do our best to show empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. We have a personal commitment to  making a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.
Bullying goes against what it means to be a caring student.

What will you learn in this WebQuest?

In this WebQuest you will explore some very important things about bullying and ways that you can stop it, so that you can make Young Hoon Elementary School a safe and happy place to learn for everyone.

Here is what you will be able to do by completing this WebQuest:

Sharing our experiences

First, it is very important for us to discuss our experiences about bullying and why we should learn about bullying at YHES. Have a look at this video, then follow the reflection activity below.

Write a reflection on your blog about your experiences and feelings relating to bullying. Use these ideas to guide you:

  1. Make a list of five adjectives to describe how the students in this video feel. You can choose the bullies or the student being bullied.
  2. Make a list of five possible kinds of bullying that you have seen or experienced. Think about how each kind of bullying makes you feel.
  3. Organise the items in your list in order of seriousness, one being the most serious.

Choose two of your friend's blogs. Read their reflections about bullying. Respond to their posts as follows:

  1. Describe to your friend which of your adjectives and experiences are the same as theirs?
  2. What new adjectives and experiences from your friends list could you add to your list?
  3. Describe to your friends why you think the topic of bullying is relevant to the YHES community.

From your blog reflections, you see that bullying is a meaningful topic for everyone at YHES. The big question is...
How can we inform other students about the seriousness of bullying?

and

How can we stop bullying at YHES?

With these questions in mind, it is now time to begin your task.
